words by Bliss Sage Rios

The significance of traditional clothing only finds meaning on those who wear it: the children of immigrants.

The children whose calloused hands signal a continued resistance whose warm skin emanates the suns unwavering brilliance, and whose voices sing because their ancestors refused silence.

Through the lens of textile and clothing, this series seeks to sanctify and celebrate their journeys: each portrait a reminder of the life born of a peoples near death, and each portrait honoring of the ancestors whose hands created the traditional clothing worn by the children of immigrants today.
